CONFIRMATION

Our most important church mission is the Christian nurturing and caring for our church family children as they grow and mature into adulthood.

Important in this process is our Confirmation Program which provides a focused and organized program of Christian Education and Mentoring to those youth seeking Confirmation as members in our church.

Confirmands participate in a proven program helping them better understand the Church and themselves. Some of what is covered follows -

The Confirmand will participate in activities from each category listed below. Please note in the categories, the Confirmand may already participate in several areas and therefore could easily complete all items in any or all categories:

 

1.      Functions of the Church for Worship         

A.    Nursery duty during worship service

B.     "Shepherding" younger children during Sunday school

C.     Serving as an usher with other adults

D.    Serve as liturgist during worship service

E.     Help set-up and clean-up for Holy Communion (Deacons)

F.      Attend a choir practice & learn about the musical instruments and singing

 

2.      Functions of the Church with other ministries/programs

A.    Attend a Council meeting

B.     Participate in a "work-day" at the church (Operations)

C.     Serve dinner at the Palmetto House (Missions)

D.    Assist with a Fellowship event such as a Dinner or Coffee Time (Hospitality)

E.     Accompany Pastor Bill in calls to shut-ins

 

3.      Additional educational activities during the regular confirmation studies may include ( this would most likely be done on an educational day and would go as a group):

A.    Attending several different religious services such as a Greek Orthodox service, a conservative Jewish service, or a Mosque

B.     Visit a funeral home or hospital
